Reviewing Several Ebook Apps for the iPad

Since its launch, the iPad has been well received by the public because it is quite versatile and user friendly. One interesting and anticipated feature of the iPad during its introduction was its ability to be used as an ebook reader with touch screen features.

The thing that made the iPad far more superior than current ebook readers is that the ipad was developed by Apple with a beautiful and sharp display screen. Ebooks seem to be much more realistic compared to other devices especially those only capable of a black and white screen. Since the iPad is a multimedia device it is also capable to download and playback videos correlating to a certain book thus integrating interactivity between the iPad user and the book. Bellow are several iPad apps currently available to guarantee a good ebook reading experience.

First of all is the Kindle iPad app. A major selling point for the Kindle app compared to other ebook reading apps for the iPad is the large library of books it offers. Kindle’s library consists of over 500,000 books which all be instantly read. Thus making this app very versatile since the shear variety of reading material is incomparable to other apps. Another feature of the Kindle app is the ability to offer users options for the type of background they wish to read on.

The follow ebook app for iPad is called iBooks. This app comes directly installed by Apple with the purchase of the iPad. Although iBooks iPad app does not have an extensive library compared to the Kindle app, but it offers users a chance to read sample excerpts of a book that can be several pages to whole chapters. This gives the iBooks app a clear advantage since it gives users a chance to decide whether a certain book is worthwhile to purchase or not. Another amazing feature of the iBooks app is that is features life like page turning animations every time you finish reading a page. This future may even make users forget that they are actually reading a digital book.

Next is the Marvel Comics’ app for the iPad. We all know that Marvel Comics publishes several comics of the characters we have all grown to love such as Spiderman, X-men and the Incredible Hulk. Now Marvel Comics have created an app to allow iPad users the ability to read digital comics. For a small price iPad users can read over 350 issues from various Marvel comics’ series. Another cool feature of the Marvel Comics app is that it can focus and zoom in on various parts of a page or comic panel to understand the story better.

The following ebook ipad app is the WattPad. One factor that makes WattPad unique is that it is the only ebook reader app that is compatible with other mobile devices and this creates a different reading experience from their iPad. Since its launch, the WattPad has received a number of negative criticisms since this app lets users to upload published ebooks on their community. On one side, the large variety of free books in WattPad’s library is quite amazing for readers. Various versions of popular books in ebook format can be found and read for free but if you plan to use this application you must be aware that certain ebooks available on WattPad violates several piracy laws.

Finally, we review the Cloud Readers app. This app can be downloaded and installed free of charge. The Cloud Reader app for the iPad allows simple and user friendly ebook and comic book reading. The biggest advantage of the Cloud Reader is that is does a great job in presenting and reading PDF files for the iPad compared to other ebook reader apps. With this application, reading PDF formats of ebooks or comics can be done quite efficiently and with ease. This app lets users to read public domain books which are uploaded by other users to the Cloud Readers Community. Since these books are public domain users do not have to worry about piracy laws and can read the books for free.
