ITunes sync was the one feature in iOS where Apple lagged behind in comparison to Android & Windows Telephone seven. But with the launching of the new iOS5, awaited features like background & wireless syncing came along. Nonetheless there are still folk who resist updating their iPhones to iOS5 because of the missing jailbreak and unlock. For them, cydia programs like Free Sync performs background syncing with much ease. FreeSync is available on Cydia thru Xsellize repository absolutely free. The app being a tweak doesn’t have an icon.

However you can turn it off or on from the settings menu. Another cool feature the tweak offers is you can set your own custom wallpaper during sync if the app is disabled. There are numerous notification options which you can enable or disable from the settings app / freesync like undim screen, standing bar icon, HUD, Pulsing bar, alerts, vibrate & play sound.

Another good feature added in is that the app permits you disable programmes like iPod, Appstore Cydia during the sync. You simply have to install the app, connect it to iTunes and the syncing starts in the background immediately. We didn’t observe any lag in performance or syncing issues after installing the app suggesting that the app functions quite smoothly. We might suggest this app to all iPhone users stuck on iOS four. Install & enjoy background syncing on iOS4 as never before.

Wow, Siri is getting more and more popular by the day, don’t you think? Now, developers and jailbreakers are trying to get her on other iOS devices other than the newest iPhone 4S. Of course, with this economy not everyone could get a new iPhone everytime there’s a new one released, right? So, people would naturally look for compromises (of course). Those are the options given by jailbreaking and by Cydia.

Siri On iPad?

One of the jailbreak tricks that we’re looking forward so much is the Siri on the iPad. We have already seen the version of this one work on the iPhone 4, however the down part of this trick in the iPhone 4 is that it doesn’t recognize voice commands. Let’s not lose hope though, because the sun is shining brighter on the iPad brighter. Who ever said that Siri is just limited to phones? Siri could work just as awesome on iPad as well.

In order to let Siri work on the iPad, your iPad should be jailbroken. There are a number of new jailbreaks released — all for the jailbreaking of the newest iOS 5. That shouldn’t be any problem. Once the jailbreak has been released, you would now be able to access Siri on Cydia once it has been released.

When Siri was just being testeed out, it was very laggy and slow. After a while, as mentioned in the past post, the artificial intelligence started to work just as smooth as the original. Regarding the ability to respond to voice commands there are theories that are being presented as to how this could be solved. There are certain spoofing techniques that could be applied, as well as it UI be used to query google or TellMe.

Of course this is going to take an amount of work that is definitely not easy. Only time will tell when this is going to happen and released.

There’s another iOS in town, hence there are more and more new Cydia apps and tweaks being released every day. Yes, there are jailbreaks for the newest iOS already and there are even more jailbreak apps and tweaks available for you! One of them is called WeeSpaces. If you already have iOS 5, you should have noticed already that one of the iOS 5′s newest features is the slide-down notification tab. It kinda reminds us of the Android’s notification tab, right? This is the space that WeeSpaces is going to use.

WeeSpaces

WeeSpaces is the newest multitasking app in Cydia. There are a couple of other multitasking apps but what makes this one unique is that it uses the newest notification tab of the iOS 5. It gives the user an overview of all the open apps on the notification tab which makes it easier for the user to see the apps that he has open. The WeeSpaces tweak has a lot of improvement to work on however. One of these is that WeeSpaces show the user the open apps by small thumbnails, these thumbnails however, are not the live status of the apps shown. It would be helpful if the thumbnails would show the current status of the app, wouldn’t it? Aside from that, you can only see the open apps on your notification bar, but you cannot do anything with them. You cannot close them nor rearrange them. Having those functions would be a tad more helpful as well.

In any case, who are we to judge? I’m sure we’re going to see more improvements on the WeeSpaces tweak in the future, but for now this version will do. It’s free anyway! There are other multitasking apps available in Cydia. If you want to see them, jailbreak your iOS 5 to be able to access Cydia, and from there you could view them one by one. Have fun!

What is a Mobile Terminal? A mobile terminal is a console or an application that lets you access command line prompts and run utilities like Open SSH. It is very helpful whenever you need to perform operations on your gadget that needs these utilities and commands because you don’t need to use a separate device to access them anymore. They’re all on your gadget already. The sad thing though is that the only application on Cydia that lets you do just that, the MobileTerminal encountered constant crashing on the iOS 4, and the same thing still happens in the iOS 5. So how do you install and run the MobileTerminal on the iOS 4 or 5 successfully? Here are the steps that you have to do.

How to Install MobileTerminal

Again, it’s on Cydia, so you need to jailbreak your device first before you get to access it. Don’t worry about jailbreaking your iOS 5, there are a lot of jailbreaks available already for the latest iOS. There are even some discussed in some of the earlier posts. After jailbreaking, Cydia would already be available for you to access.

In Cydia, search for iFile. It’s 4$. Download it and install. After the installation process is over, close Cydia and open up your browser. Go to this url: http://code.google.com/p/mobileterminal. Under Featured and Downloads, search and install this file: MobileTerminal_520-1_iphoneos-arm.deb. There’s going to be an option to open in iFile. Tap on that. This file would download to iFile. Tap n the installer button. The MobileTerminal app is installing. After the installation, you may want to reset your gadget to see the icon on your screen. It could be done by pushing the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears. Slide it to turn it off. Power on your device and there you would see the MobileTerminal ready for use.

Cydia has always been smooth and error free. So far, Saurik has been doing a great job, don’t you think? Anyway, like all the other apps, Cydia is still not perfect. There will come a time that somehow it will have an error. One of these rare errors is this: Unable to load Cydia, (Untrusted Server Certificate).

Don’t panic just. Even though Cydia doesn’t commit any unusual errors it doesn’t follow that once it does get a weird error, your phone or your gadget has malware. Hold your horses before resetting the device. Think first if your jailbreak is tethered or not, because if it is, then you would go through the effort of jailbreaking your device again once you reboot it. Tethered jailbreaks are like that, they disappear whenever you reboot your gadget.

Cydia Error – The Fix

Check the device first. Check your network settings. Is it okay? Reset it by putting it on Airplane mode, and then connecting it again. Is it okay already? If it’s still not okay, then look at your date settings. Maybe your date’s wrong? Yes, sometimes, even the simple things like misalligned dates could affect your gadget. It could cause problems not only on Cydia but on your mail apps and browsers as well. If you’re dead sure that your time and date are correct, then this is the time to perform the reset.

Hard reset your device by pushing the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears. If you have a tethered jailbreak, you would be asked to jailbreak your device again (or maybe consider getting a new and untethered jailbreak on your device). If you don’t have a tethered jailbeak, then your untethered jailbreak is still okay. See if the Cydia app is already working as it should. If it’s still not working then there’s already something wrong with your jailbreak. Again, if you have a tethered jailbreak you already renewed your jailbreak so you don’t have to do this anymore. If you have an untethered jailbreak however, reinstall it and it should be working fine already. Good luck!

There’s only one thing I could tell you: stop worrying because there’s no need to!

There are a lot of jailbreaks for iOS 5 already. These jailbreaks are even the simplest jailbreaks in town, thus there’s no need to worry because there’s a way to get your phone jailbroken and install the iOs 5. Just check out our other posts here and here to see the latest jailbreaks for the iOS 5.

So once that you have already upgraded your iOS, as well as your jailbreak, of course, you need to upgrade your iDevice’s style as well. If you have renewed everything, then most probably your themes have been erased as well. In any case, you won’t need them anymore anyway because there’s a new upgrade for the Winterboard as well along with a couple of new and fresh themes for your gadget.

How To Install WinterBoard For iOS 5

How do you do this? First, as said, upgrade your iDevice to the newest iOS. After that, search for the jailbreak that you would want to apply that is suitable for the iOS 5. After the jailbreak, Cydia is going to be available already. Open your browser and go to www.filesonic.com. Look for the latest WinterBoard, it’s the WinterBoard 0.9.390-1 for the iOS 5. Download and install as instructed by the website. Voila! You already have WinterBoard on your iOS. Check it out. It’s going to show up as a separate app with its own icon on your screen (unlike the other Cydia tweaks that just show up within the old apps). Once you already have Winterboard on your gadget, the next thing to do is to search for the themes that suit your taste. have fun personalizing your gadget!

Yep, a lot of people are itching to get an iPhone 4S right now. Why? It’s because of Siri. If you haven’t heard from both of these two new creations from Apple then just read on.

Siri and the iPhone 4

Apple has just recently released their newest iPhone, while it’s still not the iPhone 5, it’s like iPhone 4‘s better sister – the iPhone 4S. It looks exactly like the iPhone 4, but it’s better than iPhone 4. It contains a lot more features, and it’s almost better than a tablet! One of its best features is what they called Siri. Siri is a personal assistant of sorts embedded in the iPhone 4S system. It’s the most intelligent AI for now. Whenever you want to do something to your iPhone 4S, you don’t have to tap your fingers and do them by yourself anymore because you just have to talk to your phone, to Siri, and she will do it for you. She can perform a lot of things, like fix your schedule, send messages, find you a restaurant, search the internet for important information, and a whole lot more. You don’t even have to change the way you talk because Siri even understands slang, and could survive even with thick accents.

If you just bought an iPhone 4 however, of course it’s not recommended to buy the iPhone 4S. If you’re wanting to change your phone, then you should just wait for the iPhone 5 already, rather than spending the same amount on the better version of your phone, right? BUT you are dying to get Siri, or even just try her out. Good thing there’s jailbreaking and Cydia because they can give you Siri without the need to change phones.

The down thing though is that it doesn’t recognize word commands. Let’ not lose hope though, because the first attempt to port Siri on the iPhone 4 was super slow and laggy, but this newest attempt is much better already, it’s smooth and fast. Who knows? Maybe tomorrow has something better in store for Siri and the iPhone 4.
