7 Cool iPad Apps
Cool iPad Apps. Cydia iPad Apps, With the much awaited release of the Apple iPad, a lot of software companies and developers have started creating applications specifically for the new device or porting their iPhone apps to it (as you may know, iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad apps run on all devices from the box, but the difference in screen size means that most iPhone apps need to be optimized and recompiled for the iPad).
The iPad is truly a revolutionary device, which can be used to do a lot of things and completely replace a desktop or laptop computer for a lot of people. Users can do on an iPad almost anything they can do on a usual computer, including surf the web, listen to music, play games, read books, edit documents, etc., with the advantages of smaller size for portability and a very easy to use interface of the operating system.
A lot of great iPad apps have already been announced for the iPad, and hundreds more are on the way, so iPad users will definitely have a wide range to choose from. The 3G version of the iPad will be even better (with the integrated GPS, 3G modem and more memory) and will definitely spur the creation of even better and cooler apps (like Mixr, a genius virtual turntables app for DJs).
For, now, let’s see the coolest iPad apps currently available on the iTunes marketplace for the Apple iPad.
SoundHound. This is an excellent app for the iPad that identifies any music that you play to it via the internal (or an external) microphone. Let’s say there’s a great song playing on the Radio or TV. You can start SoundHound and it will almost instantly recognize and tell you the artist and name of the song! If that’s not enough, you can also sing it yourself, and there’s a high chance it will be identified, too. It’s much more amazing when you see it at work for yourself.
Cogs HD. This is an amazing iPad application/game (I really can’t decide whether it’s one or the other) that lets you build various machines using parts like pipes, gears, springs, balloons and others. You slide the parts and rotate them to install, and then watch the whole thing work. And all of this is in great 3D graphics! This is a perfect game for children (it really develops the brain) and engineers who don’t have other things to do
.
Evernote. Yet another very useful and great iPad app, Evernote lets you take notes, record video and audio clips and store any bookmarks and tags you find useful on the Internet. It’s like an extension of your brain, a virtual library of all the things you found useful or needed to store for later reviewing. You also get an online account so you can access all of the files at any time and sync them between your iPad, iPhone, Mac or even Windows devices.
Mixr. This is a simply genius application for a purpose you’d never think the iPad could be use for: DJing! And it’s not only a helpful side app either, it’s the main thing: the turntables. Yes, you get 2 virtual turntables to DJ at your party for your heart’s content. Thanks to the iPad’s sensitive touch screen, the whole thing feels very “futuristically authentic” as the beta testers say (the app is sadly not released yet, but should be available with the release of the 3G iPad).
Real Racing HD. Real Racing HD is the best racing game for the iPad, period. The graphics, the sound and the controls are all top notch, and with the iPad’s big 10 inch display, you really feel like you’re in the driver’s seat. The car models are the most detailed (even more than Need for Speed Shift, which really says something) and the controls are perfectly tuned to the iPad’s accelerometer, so when you turn the device, the car goes exactly where you want it to go (Need for Speed Shift has a few problems with that).
Apple iBooks. This is the ebook reading application that comes with the iPad, and it’s amazing. It’s a truly worthy competitor to the Kindle. You have a virtual library, beautifully represented like a real one, with books on stands, and the page navigation in ebooks is also cool looking – you slide the pages like you would in a real book. Unlike a real book, you also have instant search throughout the whole book, so you can find anything you want, whenever you want, without much manual searching or scrolling.
Twitterrific. Twitterrific is a terrific (I think that’s what the developers intended to say with the name) Twitter application that’s made specifically for the iPad’s screen and takes complete advantage of it. The interface is slick and has all the features you may need. In horizontal view, you have a full list of all the app’s features, and in vertical view they’re hidden behind your user name in the top left corner. The Twitter experience is definitely better than on their main site or any iPhone or desktop clients, for that matter.
Of course, there are a lot of other great apps for the iPad. Just search for the ones you need on the marketplace. Also, be sure to try out any iPhone apps that you liked, chances are there is already an iPad version or the iPhone one works just fine as it is.
